The name of this cocktail is a play on the French word gentil which means “kind” and is pronounced “jahn-tea.” And this cocktail is gin-tea. See what I did there? 😉

Gintil

Ingredients

  • 3 rosemary leaves
  • ¼ ounce jasmine green tea syrup, see recipe below
  • ¾ ounce Manzanilla sherry
  • 1½ ounces gin

For the Jasmine Tea Syrup

  • 2 jasmine green tea bags
  • 8 oz boiling water
  • 1 cup sugar

Method

  • Make the jasmine tea syrup. In a small pitcher steep the tea bags in boiling water for 2–3 minutes. Remove tea bags and add the sugar, stirring until dissolved; allow to cool. Transfer to a covered container. The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
  • In a tall mixing glass, combine the rosemary leaves, jasmine green tea syrup, sherry, and gin. Add ice. Stir well or stir until cold. Strain into a chilled glass and garnish with the lemon twist. Serve immediately.
